Eliana's Bat Mitzvah
Service: March 27, 2027
Celebration: March 28, 2027
We warmly invite you to join us for a joyous weekend celebrating Eliana as she is called to the Torah. We have compiled some essential information for a great weekend in Auckland and Tutukaka, and hope to see you there!
The main event will take place on Saturday morning, 27 March, when Eliana will be called to the Torah at Beth Shalom Progressive Synagogue in Auckland. On Sunday, we’ll head north to our home in Tutukaka to continue the celebration together, with more details to come.
To our family and friends overseas: we know it’s a long way to travel, and we don’t expect you to make the trip. That said, you are so welcome, and we’d be thrilled if you did. Either way, we’d love for you to be with us on Zoom for the service.
We will update this page with accommodation and activity ideas!

AirBnBs and Boutique Accommodation
There’s no place like the Tutukaka Coast at the end of summer! Late March is a lovely time to visit Tutukaka, with warm days, golden beaches, and the Poor Knights Islands just offshore. It’s a wonderful chance to enjoy the coast, the bush, and the local charm. Our celebration falls on Easter weekend, one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year, and accommodation in Tutukaka is limited, so please book early. Along with local motels and lodges, there are plenty of Airbnb and holiday home options in Tutukaka and nearby Ngunguru and Matapouri.
For Saturday’s service in Auckland, there are plenty of places to stay in the CBD, the Viaduct, or Ponsonby, all a short drive from the synagogue. If you’re staying up north, you can also drive down to Auckland for the day.
